In&nbsp;Moscow and Belgrade on&nbsp;December 3, right after the first day of&nbsp;the conference, presentations, and discussions, we&rsquo;ll be&nbsp;hosting an&nbsp;offline meetup. Yandex is&nbsp;breaking language barriers

Neural network-driven streaming voice-over translation is&nbsp;a&nbsp;complicated technological task that nobody in&nbsp;the world has managed to&nbsp;achieve yet. Unlike recorded videos, where a&nbsp;neural network immediately is&nbsp;fed the full audio track, streaming requires work on&nbsp;the fly, like a&nbsp;simultaneous interpreter. This year, we&rsquo;ll be&nbsp;streaming YaTalks simultaneously in&nbsp;two languages using these technologies. We&nbsp;believe our solution will help users overcome at&nbsp;least some language barriers and discover a&nbsp;whole new world of&nbsp;content that hasn&rsquo;t been translated yet.

But our track is&nbsp;about openness and candidness: we&rsquo;ll share our failures and successes, talk about the industry&rsquo;s challenges and problems, and reveal the not-so-obvious solutions to&nbsp;complex problems. Humans are at&nbsp;the center of&nbsp;the discussion. While the common belief is&nbsp;that backend is&nbsp;about machines talking to&nbsp;machines, we&nbsp;should remember that real developers stand behind these machines. Today, when many people solve problems they aren&rsquo;t used to&nbsp;and learn to&nbsp;manage risks, it&rsquo;s more important than ever to&nbsp;exchange experiences and support each other. This is&nbsp;what our track is&nbsp;dedicated&nbsp;to.

In&nbsp;the past, we&nbsp;used to&nbsp;think that search result refinement and content personalization were the central applications of&nbsp;ML. But today, ML&nbsp;sees much wider use: machines generate incredible images, blur language barriers by&nbsp;translating videos in&nbsp;real time, and save lives by&nbsp;diagnosing diseases at&nbsp;early stages. We&nbsp;can only wonder what breakthroughs await&nbsp;us in&nbsp;other areas.

When your app has hundreds of&nbsp;thousands or&nbsp;even millions of&nbsp;downloads, it&rsquo;s hard to&nbsp;maintain a&nbsp;connection with the end user. We&nbsp;envision something abstract, but on&nbsp;the other side of&nbsp;the smartphone is&nbsp;a&nbsp;real person with their own characteristics and needs. Pyotr Popov

CEO of&nbsp;Yandex&nbsp;Technologies. His team is&nbsp;responsible for: machine learning technologies from scientific research to&nbsp;service applications; reliability and performance of&nbsp;base search and ad&nbsp;tech; keeping the uptime of&nbsp;Yandex at&nbsp;large at&nbsp;99.99%. One of&nbsp;the tasks he&rsquo;s currently working on&nbsp;is&nbsp;implementing data-heavy neural networks and high-performance GPUs to&nbsp;improve the quality of&nbsp;services. Pyotr has been part of&nbsp;Yandex since 2009 and worked his way up&nbsp;from developer to&nbsp;CEO. He&nbsp;studied at&nbsp;Moscow State University&rsquo;s Department of&nbsp;Mechanics and Mathematics and, in&nbsp;2003, defended his candidate dissertation on&nbsp;algebraic topology. In&nbsp;his leisure time, he&nbsp;plays ping-pong and follows esports.

Having worked at&nbsp;Yandex since 2020, she heads the Repository Ecosystem Service and intranet search and leads several shared projects for the Development Technologies Department. Hosts DevTools Party meetups and Infrastructure Subbotniks. She&rsquo;s a&nbsp;significant proponent of&nbsp;soft skill development in&nbsp;IT and a&nbsp;member of&nbsp;the Podlodka Soft Skills Crew and the Yet Another Level program committee. Anastasia runs a&nbsp;Telegram channel for beginner managers. Apart from project activities, she organizes exciting teambuilding events for her teams and regularly hosts Dungeons and Dragons campaigns.

Aleksey Shagrayev

Candidate of&nbsp;Technical Sciences, Associate Professor at&nbsp;Moscow Institute of&nbsp;Physics and Technology, and the former Head of&nbsp;Instant and Interactive Search Responses Development. He&nbsp;founded Yandex Tutor, spoke at&nbsp;YaTalks, organized Team Leader Meetups, helped launch Yandex Andromeda, and built clusterization for Yandex News. Aleksey teaches at&nbsp;Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Moscow Institute of&nbsp;Physics and Technology, and Higher School of&nbsp;Economics. In&nbsp;2020-2021, he&nbsp;worked at&nbsp;Google Switzerland, but he&rsquo;s now nurturing his own startup.

Aleksey Gusakov

He&nbsp;integrated the first neural network into Yandex Search and fixed the search in&nbsp;Yandex Maps. Nowadays, he&rsquo;s tasked with machine learning and maintaining the quality of&nbsp;many Yandex products. If&nbsp;you&rsquo;re having trouble looking something up&nbsp;on&nbsp;the web or&nbsp;Alice is&nbsp;a&nbsp;bit slower than usual, let Lyosha know :) He&nbsp;likes powerlifting and can bench press 180&nbsp;kg.

Nikita Sidorov

During his five years at&nbsp;Yandex, Nikita has studied at&nbsp;The Yandex School of&nbsp;Data Analysis and delivered (and keeps delivering) lectures at&nbsp;the Frontend Development School. At&nbsp;a&nbsp;Yandex programming cup, he&nbsp;once made people write tree-shaking in&nbsp;30&nbsp;minutes. Nikita&rsquo;s JS, TS, Python, C++, and Java code runs in&nbsp;the Yandex production.

Vladimir Grinenko

Leads the Ecosystem Frontend Department at&nbsp;Yandex. He&rsquo;s responsible for the Yandex ID&nbsp;personal account and the shared components of&nbsp;Lego and BEM. Additionally, the department develops payment forms and Captcha interfaces. The team is&nbsp;distributed across Moscow, Innopolis, and Simferopol.

Tanya Denisyuk

Community manager at&nbsp;Yandex DevRel. Loves the frontend community and HolyJS dearly; took care of&nbsp;speakers at&nbsp;JUG Ru&nbsp;Group. Tanya is&nbsp;a&nbsp;cat mom, and one of&nbsp;her cats is&nbsp;named Evgeniy.

Vitaliy Kharisov

He&nbsp;joined Yandex in&nbsp;2006&nbsp;as an&nbsp;HTML layout designer and worked his way from developer to&nbsp;group and department lead, then back to&nbsp;developer. Vitaliy is&nbsp;the mind behind the layouts of&nbsp;many Yandex services. He&nbsp;founded the public Lego library and helped develop and spread BEM inside and outside Yandex.

Alyona Batitskaya

She&rsquo;s been a&nbsp;frontend freelancer for eight years. Alyona teaches online courses for developers, regularly speaks at&nbsp;conferences and meetups, and writes and translates articles, including for Google&rsquo;s official Russian blog.

Aleksey Popkov

Andrey Breslav

One of&nbsp;the creators of&nbsp;the Kotlin programming language. For many years, he&nbsp;taught programming to&nbsp;students in&nbsp;schools and universities. Yevgeniy Katella

He’s&nbsp;been developing for Android since 2015. Yevgeniy joined Yandex in&nbsp;2017 and presently leads mobile development at&nbsp;Yandex Eats. Gennadiy Yevstratov

Leads the development of&nbsp;Yandex Pro and promotes Flutter within and beyond the company. Before coming to&nbsp;Yandex, he&rsquo;d led iOS development at&nbsp;Yula, worked with his own outsourcing team, and wrote backend in&nbsp;Java.

Ilya Tsarev

He&nbsp;got into iOS development and started his startup career while studying in&nbsp;institute. He&nbsp;built his own PIN code storing app, PIN Master (5 stars on&nbsp;the AppStore; thousands of&nbsp;active users to&nbsp;this day). He&nbsp;also partook in&nbsp;developing a&nbsp;Connected Car platform at&nbsp;BrightBox. 
Later, he&nbsp;worked at&nbsp;Alfa Bank for four years and went from a&nbsp;developer to&nbsp;head of&nbsp;mobile development in&nbsp;a&nbsp;team of&nbsp;50+ people. He&nbsp;upscaled the team (the iOS dev unit went from 2 to&nbsp;30 people), built a&nbsp;strong HR&nbsp;brand, and adapted processes to&nbsp;a&nbsp;larger team. 
In&nbsp;2019, Ilya joined Yandex Go&nbsp;(known as&nbsp;Yandex Taxi at&nbsp;that time) and, in&nbsp;just two years, managed to&nbsp;triple the development team’s&nbsp;size. Under his leadership, fresh updates come out all the time&nbsp;&mdash; despite the colossal pace of&nbsp;change in&nbsp;projects.
